When will tax statements be available?

Tax statements will be mailed starting in February according to the schedule below.

2015 Online tax forms will be available the first week in February within your mutual fund account.

Tax Statements

You may receive one or more of the tax forms listed below from Columbia Management Investment Services Corp., depending on your holdings.

Duplicate Form Requests

Duplicate tax forms can be obtained in the following ways:

  • Download your tax forms and enclosures online through your mutual fund account starting the first week in February for the current tax season. Prior year forms are also available online. We provide current year and two prior years of tax forms online.
  • Call a Columbia Threadneedle representative at 800.345.6611 or refer to the contact information on the back of your tax forms. Representatives will be available Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. EST. Please note that there may be a fee for each duplicate statement requested.
  • Duplicate Year End Statement and Tax Form Request
Statement Purpose IRS Mailing Deadline

1099R: Distributions from Pensions, Annuities, Retirement or Profit-Sharing Plans, IRAs, etc.

Reports any reportable distributions paid from your retirement account.

1099Q: Payments from Qualified Education Programs

Reports payments and distributions from a Coverdell Education Savings Account (formerly known as the Education IRA).

1099DIV: Dividends and Distributions

Reports dividends and distributions from the previous year.
Reports taxes withheld from your dividends even if you reinvested all fund distributions.

1099B: Proceeds from Broker and Barter Exchange Transactions

Reports proceeds and certain other tax information from any redemption or exchange of shares from one fund to another.

5498-ESA: Coverdell ESA Contribution Information

Reports contributions made to a Coverdell Education Savings Account (formerly known as a the Educational IRA)

5498: IRA Contribution Information

Reports any regular or rollover IRA contributions, or Roth contributions, as well as the fair market value of your retirement account(s) for the previous tax year.

May 31

NOTE: The fair market value of your retirement account(s) is also listed on your year-end statement. You do not need Form 5498 to file your tax return.

NOTE: If the standard IRS mailing deadline falls on a weekend or holiday, the adjusted deadline will be the next business day. The above table reflects these adjustments for 2016.

U.S. Government Income Information

Lists the percentage of fund ordinary distributions that were derived from U.S. government obligations. Many states do not tax the portion of your fund's ordinary distributions that comes from U.S. Treasury securities and obligations issued by many agencies of the U.S. government.

Foreign Source Income & Foreign Tax Paid Information

Lists information to help you compute foreign source income, foreign source qualified dividends, and foreign tax paid, if you qualify for the foreign tax credit.

Corporate Dividends Received Deduction Information

Contains tax information for Columbia Threadneedle Investments corporate shareholders.

If your corporation invests in the stock funds listed, you may be able to take advantage of the dividends-received deduction for corporations.

Income Earned by State Information

Helps calculate the amount of income that is reportable to your state and local tax authorities.

Provides information for those who are subject to the alternative minimum tax (AMT).

In many instances, interest from municipal bonds is tax-exempt in the state from which the bonds were issued, but not in other states.
